AOV · Recovery

Cart & checkout abandonment recovery.

Recover the orders that were already in the basket. We fix what makes people leave, then bring back the ones who did.

Two halves of one job: remove the friction in cart and checkout, and run recovery flows that feel like help rather than chasing.

What’s included

Stop the leak, then recover what still slips.

Most recovery programs only send reminders. We start with why people leave, fix what we can, and build flows for the rest.

01 · Cart

Keep them moving.

The cart is where hesitation shows. We remove the reasons to pause.

  • Cart drawer and page UX
  • Shipping costs shown early
  • Trust signals and returns clarity
  • Upsells that do not distract
  • Mobile cart experience
02 · Checkout

Remove the friction.

The last and most expensive drop-off in the funnel.

  • Checkout field and step review
  • Express payment options
  • Discount code field behavior
  • Error states and validation
  • Shopify Plus checkout extensions
03 · Recovery

Bring them back.

Flows timed and written to help people finish — not to discount by default.

  • Abandoned cart email and SMS
  • Abandoned checkout flows
  • Browse abandonment
  • Incentive rules, not blanket codes
  • On-site return reminders

A recovery sequence

The first message is help. The last is an offer — only if it is needed.

Timing and tone decide whether recovery feels like service or chasing. We sequence email and SMS around the reason someone left.

  2. 1 hour

How it works

Checkout friction map

We fix the leak before we chase the drop.

Recovery catches people who have already left. The bigger win is fewer people leaving — so we map every step of checkout for friction first.

Who it’s for

A fit for some brands. Honest about the rest.

Best-fit signals

  • Cart abandonment above benchmark
  • Checkout drop-off heavier on mobile
  • Recovery flows never revisited
  • Discount codes sent by default
  • Shipping costs revealed late
  • On Shopify Plus, checkout not customized

Not a fit

  • Under 500 orders a month
  • No email or SMS platform
  • Marketplace-only sellers with no site
  • Magento / Adobe Commerce

Below roughly 500 orders a month (about 50,000 sessions at a 1% conversion rate), a testing program produces inconclusive results. Brands under that floor get research-led fixes and implementation instead, or an honest referral.

FAQ

Before we fix your checkout.

Didn't see your question? Email us at 100xretention@gmail.com

Can you change Shopify checkout?

On Shopify Plus, through checkout extensibility. On standard Shopify there is less room, so we focus on cart and recovery instead.

Do recovery flows always need a discount?

No. Many people come back with a reminder and a reason. We test when an incentive is needed rather than giving one away every time.

Which platforms do you work with?

Mostly Klaviyo for email and SMS, plus Shopify’s native tools. We will tell you if your stack limits what is possible.

How do you measure recovered revenue?

Orders attributed to recovery flows, checked against a holdout where traffic allows, so the number is not flattered.

Will SMS annoy our customers?

Only if it is overused. We cap frequency, respect consent and keep every message useful.

How soon will we see results?

Recovery flows usually show within weeks. Checkout fixes depend on testing time and traffic.
